MOSCOW VERDICT

By Luke Traynor on May 22, 08 11:16 PM in

.So, as a grimacing Red on Wednesday night, what did everyone think of Moscow?
Any joy or pleasure to be had from one of rivals spectacularly biting the dust? Or was it pain all the way?
I'm sure the sight of blubbing Johnathan Terry will not have left many Liverpool fans despairing, nor the sight of the petulant Drogba being sent off.

For what it's worth, it was a pretty even game, United wiping the floor with them first half and Chelsea dominating for much of the second.
For sheer irritating value, you just can't beat the Stamford Bridge boys.
First there's Drogba. He's surely got to be off to pastures new now. He didn't even seem to stay around to watch his teammates taking the penalties. Great loyalty.
Then we had to put up with the contant whinging and moaning of Ballack, carping about every decision, in the ref's ear.
Joe Cole made a good bid for prat of the match, looking like he'd just been molested every time he felt a decision wasn't going his way.
And then John Tezza himself. I'm sure he was promising Tevez some sort of early death as the Argie walked off after his latest wind-up session. He's no Bobby Moore is he, our England cap'n.
He tried to disguise it by talking behind his sleeve, but we all knew what he was up to. We were wise to the sleeve trick John.
All those flare-ups and group argy-bargies made me think back to the Masch incident at Old Trafford. What we saw on Wednesday night was a lot more unsavoury than Javier's indiscretion, yet nobody saw red for chatting to the ref in the final.
Like we've always said, consistency.
I've always had time for Makelele, but he seemed to have bones like china, grimacing and hobbling like a granny at every slight touch.
So, they provided us with a good spectacle, but both proved what a bunch of unsportsmanlike prima donnas they all are - Chelsea in particular.
At least, the managers and co kept on their suits in the pouring rain after the match. Can you imagine if Fergie or Grant were walking about with a Steve McLaren oversized style brolly in that downpour? The abuse, for Grant in particular, would have been non-stop.
Some expensive suits have gone straight in the bin after that soaking. Claim it back on expenses lads.
And thankfully, we didn't have to put up with porno-muzzy Neville lifting the trophy, although seeing chavy Rio grab one half of it was nearly as bad.
They should have let Giggs have it to himself, the one United player who I have any kind of respect for.
So in the end, we got John Terry striking the post with the trophy at his mercy (reckon he'll do a pizza advert?), but on the downside, that reprieved Ronaldo's miss.
The winger missing the spotkick that cost United the cup may have been even sweeter.
What were your thoughts of the final?

I can't believe how mad Tevez looks. What's going on with the neck? Like he's had bolts that were inserted in there that have recently come out.
Didn't Alex look lovely in his minty white trackie, glasses off and rainwater plastering his barnet down to his scalp.

cant beleive no-one in the media has made reference to fergies man-handling of the ref at the start of the second half! this from the man who always respects referees and found Javiers actions 'inexcusable'what a hypocrite
decent game on a miserable night though it was, I couldnt help thinking how much more colourful it would have been had we been there! still, you cant help feeling that with the final being in Rome next year and of course a really important aniversary coming up for us then it will be back to business as usual!!
forza Liverpool

Just relieved it's all over to be honest, the experience was comparable (I'd imagine) to having to decide if your clangers were going to be removed by machete or chainsaw - however as some sage rightly pointed out before the game, whichever 'orrible lot won the Cup would be having to give it back next year, ours is going nowhere but Anfield!

Accrington you whopper, jog on. Tevez suffered bad burns as a kid and that scarring on his neck is the result.

I don't think Alex looked minty redscouse. I think he looked like a manager who had just won the Champion's league and prem. Jealousy there lad?

Thought the game and support was flat. Chelskies Surry comuters are a sorry lot. Only banner seen in their end was the one about us. Pathetic is al i say.

As for the mancs enough said. Getn nausea just thinking of them.

We better get our act together. Can you imagine the press and mancs if they get to 18 next year.

I didnt say that jogger, I said he was a hypocrite, try and pay attention son! and as for jealous, well I`ve been to more European cup/CL finals than Alex and plan to do more so I can live with it.

Anyone else notice the deafening silence coming from the Filthies when it comes to winning on penalties?

Hypocrites, the lot of them.

Still, at least they're not getting an open-topped bus parade - apparently Surrey Council were worried about the roads being clogged up in the rush hour.

I'm based in Australia and i got myself up before work with no intention of watching the final but caught the last few mins of normal time and as these things happen i got sucked into it and wanted to see the end. So i watched extra time and the pens. I saw the United celebrations and obviously being out of the country for the last few years i'm a little out of touch with the songs but i try and keep an eye on things. No one else seems to have touched on this on the various LFC forums i peruse so perhaps i'm way way way off the mark and mishearing but the United fans were singing something similar to our 'We've won it 5 times' but instead theirs is 'We've won it 3 times, without murdering anyone, we've won it 3 times'??? Please correct me now if i am wrong. I expect that from their moronic support, cant stop it nor do anything about it but after the last pen, the tv channel (SBS Australia) went to a close up of the United team singing along to it in front of their fans shoulder to shoulder and it was clear that they all knew the words and were singing along. Rooney was singing his lungs out and if my hearing is correct then how can this be allowed? The fans singing this stuff is bad enough, but the players after winning the European Cup in front of God knows how many people around the world? Manchester United. Everyone loves them.

Maybe my hearing is out though. Merv.

I actually didn't watch it. Two teams I really don't care about. I'm just waiting for William Gaillard to blame us for something.
