DAVID NGOG'S DIVE
The young Frenchman has been taking a lot of stick recently about that dive against Birmingham last Monday.
There's a couple of points to make here.
Yes, no contact appeared to have been made by Carsley, and as a Birmingham player and fan, you would be choked to be denied three points at Anfield by a decision like that.
Put it on the other foot, we'd be fuming.
But, what I would say, and this was raised by Lee Dixon on Football Focus, on the scale of chucking yourself, this was perhaps down the lower end.
What I mean is, Carsley comes charging in, sliding straight for Ngog, doesn't get anywhere near the ball, but also, doesn't clip Ngog's legs.
The Frenchman almost goes over anticipating the contact....and as Dixon says, if Ngog had kept going, Carsley would have most likely have taken his leg THEN.
Ngog has almost pre-empted the contact....he knows Carsley will probably take him in some shape or form, but goes down a bit earlier than that contact actually happening.
It's not to be condoned, obviously, but how many fouls are not given by defenders charging in, almost lying down in front of the attacker, who has to hurdle, lose his balance and be put off the pass, cross, shot he is trying to make.
At the end of the day, it's a strange tactic by Carsely to come steaming in, launching into a full length tackle, but not making a discernible attampt to win the ball.
Just something to think about. A bit naughty from the lad, but he's not at the upper end of cheats like Drogba etc.
Discuss.
