STRANGE game this one, with Reds fans convinced that we deserved the points and Villa boss Martin O'Neill certain his side were robbed by Torres' late winner.

AND so the gloom deepens.
We traditionally have too much for The Arsenal at Anfield, our power, physicality and high octane tempo often winning out over pretty passing patterns.
But the way we surrendered in the second half, limping through the last 25 minutes without so much as a whimper, was truly alarming.

ANOTHER game, another lot of huff and puff from Liverpool, but not enough craft to open up a mediocre defence.
The task of grabbing that Champions League spot seemd achievable a couple of weeks ago, but it now seems an increasingly arduous one with every passing fixture.

ANOTHER game, another absence of a win....it seems that we're in for a long hard season boys.

DAVID NGOG'S DIVE

The young Frenchman has been taking a lot of stick recently about that dive against Birmingham last Monday.

AS IF it wasn't hard enough to play a rejuvenated Sunderland side without our two best players.
Minus Torres and Gerrard, even random beach balls are conspiring to work against us now.

Are Liverpool FC in danger of becoming Leeds United?
Here's the latest thoughts from Reds fans group Spirit of Shankly.

SOMETIMES you feel a blog posted after one Liverpool match, could easily be copied and pasted for an entirely different Reds game and it would still be applicable.
Sloppy defenders being saved their blushes by Liverpool's two talismanic frontmen.
Question is, when are we going to learn from all of this?

IN THE last 12 months, any criticism of Liverpool has been along the lines of questioning us as a real attacking force.
But with seven goals conceded in our first four league games, is it time for questions marks to hover over our leaky defence?

IT'S A long time since Liverpool last lost their first two out of three league games.
But is talk of a 'mini-crisis' at Anfield an accurate reflection of the state of the club, or an overreation, just a mere heartbeat into the new season?

jonno.jpg

OK, so we should add the name of Steven Gerrard into that mix, but we've naturally come to expect excellence from our skipper.
But there was some stand-out performances from supporting cast players on Wednesday night that has helped dispel some of the glooom surrounding our defeat to Spurs on the opening day.

SO, Xabi has asked for a transfer request. Let's be honest, we knew the lad was going a long time ago, didn't we?

IN A BIZARRE kind of way, Liverpool losing their player of the year might easily end up benefiting the Reds in the long run.

ribery.jpg

All kinds of flaky rumours sprouting up today about Frenchman Frank Ribery possibly moving to Anfield.
Does, an article posted by www.goal.com add weight to a speculative story? It seems to have been generated by a welter of people lumping a tenner on the winger joining Liverpool, prompting Skybet to slash the odds on Frank playing in front of the Kop.

Sorry for the lateness of this, but I've been off for two weeks.
Still, it needs addressing. Should Liverpool fans lambast Mr Owen for his shock move to Old Trafford?
There's plenty of different takes on the subject.

SO, £17m for a full back?
And one from Portsmouth who is hardly a regular full international with 30+ international caps under his belt?
It seems a hell of a lot of money to pay.

SINCERE, sincere apologies for using such a monstrous image at the top of this posting.
Yet it seems to perfectly sum up the devil incarnate who has decided to leave this fair shores for sleazier times in Spain.
Yes, the Greasy One has departed for loadsamoney Real Madrid.

gerrard.jpg

I THOUGHT we would have a disinterested air for this game, the league title having been sown up the previous day by United drawing with Arsenal.
But all thoughts of any Liverpool apathy was dispelled by the sight of Carragher and Arbeloa coming to blows in front of baying Albion fans.

IT WAS almost the perfect weekend.
Three points at a tough Craven Cottage with a last-gasp winner and Man Utd being held at home by Villa.
Sadly, it wasn't to be.
Hard to complain when we ourselves dragged victory from the jaws of a stalemate, but Sunday's result in Manchester has left us all a little flat.
But there's surely got to be more twists and turns and points dropped by all in this heady title race.

keanewarmup.jpg

And so Robbie Keane moves back to Spurs to complete one of the most bizarre, frustrating and downright puzzling Anfield transfer sagas in a long time.
But has Benitez got this one right?
